Melissa Ann Noel, English teacher at North Central High School, is a resident of Lafayette Parish. She graduated from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette in May 1998 with a Bachelor of Science in Secondary English Education and a Bachelor’s of General Studies in Behavioral Sciences in December 1994. She is currently attending graduate school at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. She is pursuing a Master’s Degree in Curriculum and Instruction. She is employed by the St. Landry Parish School System. This is Melissa’s third year teaching at North Central High School. She has been a member of the Associated Professional Educators of Louisiana (APEL) organization since 1998. She is also a Sunday School teacher and has been for ten years. She enjoys working with young children and young adults.

Melissa is committed and dedicated to the teaching profession. Her philosophy for teaching includes many different ideas, but her favorite is this metaphorical idea that "teaching is planting a seed and watching it grow". She believes, as teachers, we plant, fertilize, and cultivate knowledge in the minds of our students. The final outcome of all the work we instill into students is when we see or hear of them becoming successful and productive adults. Melissa believes every student can excel in life by keeping a positive attitude toward education. She strongly believes education is the key to success.
Some of Melissa’s hobbies include reading, traveling, shopping, interior decorating, and making flower arrangements. However, most of her free time is spent with her family, friends, and her pet cat.
