In May of 1996 Mrs. Marie Bush was selected as Teacher of the Year at North Central High School by her peers. Mrs Bush has 25 years of teaching experience, and has taught at Morrow High School, Palmetto High, Leonville High, and T.H. Harris. She is currently teaching Business courses at NCHS. Mrs. Bush belongs to several professional organizations including LAE,SLAE, and LVA.
Her philosophy of teaching is to put God first and ask Him to lead and guide her in the right direction to help every child to accomplish the best that he or she can be. "If I am blessed with the ability of persuasion, I will use my skills to motivate others for their own self improvement, not to my advantage. For most students, setting learning goals gives purpose to their study efforts. Goals should set limits, tell what they want to learn, and how to apply that learning. I will endure unkind words without seeking revenge. I will be proud of myself for not succumbing to petty arguing and retaliation," says Bush.
When reflecting on her career, Mrs. Bush had this to say, "When former students return and tell me how much they appreciate what I was trying to instill in them, they tell me that I was firm, but fair, and now that they are older, they understand the value of an education."
"I am very elated to be selected as Teacher of the Year by my co-workers." -Mrs. Marie Bush
