Hello, I am Shimike Johnson. I live in Washington, Louisiana, I am 14 years old, and it just so happens that I'm a New Year's child. For a long time I've made excellence my goal, but not perfection. I consider myself to be optimistic, sensible, and a determined person. I try to have a positive insight on things. I do my best to keep my priorities in order: God first, others second, myself last.

I know from personal experiences that it is only through serving and loving others that you get served and loved. I am appreciative that my family is supportive of my decisions. I'm not lucky, but blessed. I'm active in church, I'm the vice-president over the junior usher board, a missionary, a Sunday school member, and the assistant announcement secretary. God has given me the knowledge and understanding to achieve academically.

Moving from the elementary school to North Central was a major change for me. I did not know what to expect. Now, I realize that I'll never know what to expect because everyday is different and unique. Winning second place in the Patriotic Contest and the Black History Quiz Bowl proved this. Being selected Student of the Year is the highest honor I've ever held. We all have had our ups and downs, but it's how many times you are up, not how long you stay down. My future plans are simple, increasing my faith in God and letting Him direct my life in the right path.
