Canes down Tigers

LEBEAU - The North Central Hurricanes continued their winning streak as they defeated the Jeanerette Tigers 20-8.

The victory puts the Hurricanes at 2-6 overall and 2-1 in district. The loss drops the Tigers to 0-8, and 0-4 in district.

"We played good today. I am happy for this team, this community, and the coaching staff. It feels good to have two wins in a row. Also having Lionel Richard back is a huge plus for us," stated North Central coach Herb Lamb.

Both teams went scoreless in the first quarter, but in the second quarter the Canes would get a turnover. Tiger quarterback Tyrone Robertson would and Cane defender Brice Swasey recovered at the Tiger 23. And then the Canes would use three plays to score as quarterback Lionel Richard ran for a touchdown two yard score. The extra point failed.

In the third quarter the Canes would get on the board again when QB Lionel Richard ran in for a 37 yard score. The extra point would fail again. On the first drive they would find the endzone as they would use nine plays to score. Running back Jare Eugene would race in for a 9 yard score. Tyrone Robertson would run in for the converted PAT.

In the fourth quarter the Canes would get a penalty from the Tigers to give them a first down. Next QB Lionel Richard would sneak a pass to Kennard Tanner between two defenders for a 67 yard score.

Not long after the Cane defense would get a safety when David Nevills would sack Tiger quarterback Tyrone Robertson for the safety to make it 20-8.
