NC 90, Elton 45
      The North Central Hurricanes continued their District 6-IA win streak Friday night. With their 90-45 punishment of Elton High School, the North Central Hurricanes (10-13 overall) improve to 5-0 in 6-IA district play.
       Stepping up for the Hurricanes was Dequincy Stein, who put in an outstanding defensive performance according to coach Butch Fontenot.
      The Canes were able to gain the advantage by shutting down Elton's Hilton Ceasar. North Central ran a box-and-one defense to shut down any hopes of an Elton comeback.
      Derek Tezeno hit the net I8 times, plus threw in three foul shots to score 39 points on the evening. Jimmie Gaines scored 16 for NCHS.
      Elton's Hilton Ceasar was held to 15 on the night. North Central will play host to the St. Edmund's Blue Jays Tuesday night.


Elton girls 67, NC 64
      ELTON -- In spite of strong second-half performance, the North Central Lady Hurricanes dropped a 67-64 decision at EIton Friday night in District 5-IA.
      Kim Captain led all scorers with 29 points before she fouled out of the game. Elton team-mate Tina Pinch chipped in 21 points in the game.
      North Central bad three players that scored in double figures, including a 19-point performance from Apphia Doucet. Nicole Johnson chipped in with 18 points and Tiffany Taylor added 12 points for the Lady Hurricanes.
      Elton jumped out to a 22-12 first quarter lead before the Lady Hurricanes closed the gap to 36-26 at the break.       North Central outscored Elton 16-12 in the third quarter to pull closer, 48-42 as the game went into the fourth period.
