OBERLIN-Nicole Johnson drilled five three pointers to help spark the North Central Lady Hurricanes to a 86-29 rout over Oberlin Friday night. Johnson finished the game with 23 points as North Central improves to 7-5 in District 5-1A and 9-15 overall, still in the hunt for a possible play-off berth. North Central travels to Eunice Tuesday for a 6 p.m. tip-off against St. Edmund.
The Lady Hurricanes jumped out to a 21-4 lead over Oberlin after the first quarter and continued the one-sided offensive showing with a 41-9 lead at intermission. The Lady Tigers did out score North Central 13-12 in the third quarter, but the Lady Hurricanes exploded for 33 fourth quarter points to complete the 57-point bombing. Brina Nevills pushed in 15 points for North Central and Samantha Duplechain added 10 points in the win.
North Central remains undefeated in district after pounding Oberlin 59-37. The Hurricanes are 10-0 in district 5-1A. The 'Canes put up 11 points early in the first half to take the advantage 11-4 at the end of the first quarter. They added eight points to the lead and closed the first half 31-16. The lead expanded to 22 points at the end of the fourth quarter. Kenneth Morrison led the 'Canes in the scoring column. He had 13 points from six two's and one-of-two from the foul line.
