North Central notches 6-A sweep

NEW ROADS - North Central kept its grip on the District 6-1A lead with a pair of wins over Catholic of Pointe Coupee on Friday night.
The second ranked Lady Hurricanes cruised to a 68-26 win, while the No. 4 Hurricanes pounded CHPC in a 104-34 romp.

Donisha Duruisseau scored 29 points to spark the Lady Hurricanes (21-2, 8-0) to the win as North Central jumped out to a 18-8 advantage after the first quarter and held a 37-12 margin at intermission.
North Central outscored the Lady Hornets 16-4 in the third quarter and a 15-10 run in the final period closed out the win.
Tasha Tanner scored 11 points and Valencia Harris chipped in 10 points as the other Lady Hurricanes to score in double figures.

In boys action, the Hurricanes drained 11 3-pointers and closed out the game on a 29-5 run to storm past the Hornets in a one-sided win.
Five players finished in double figures, led by Joseph Simien, who scored 20 points, Derrick Coleman with 12 and twin brother Errick Coleman with 11 points.
Theodore Chambers also scored 12 points for the Hurricanes, while Javelle Randall added 10 points in the win.
North Central jumped out to a 24-6 first quarter lead and continued the barrage with a 30-10 run in the second quarter to hold a comfortable 54-16 margin at intermission.
The potent Hurricane offense continued on its storm track with a 21-13 surge in the third stanza for a 75-29 advantage and completed the assault with a strong run in the final period.
