LEBEAU - In a showdown between District 6-1A rivals and Top Ten basketball teams, second ranked North Central defeated No. 10 Acadiana Prep, 68-65.
The Lady Eagles (11-3) was led by Laquauanda Sippio's 28-point performance. Janice Arthurlee added 11 points for Acadiana Prep.
The Lady Hurricanes (17-2) were led by Donisha Durusseau's 31 points in the win.
Both Sippio and Durusseau fouled out of the contest.
North Central jumped out to a 17-13 first quarter lead before both teams battled to a 10-10 second quarter tie.
With a 27-23 advantage at the break, North Central outscored Prep 17-14 in the third stanza.
Trailing 44-37 as the game moved into the fourth quarter, Acadiana Prep outscored North Central 21-15 in the final period and nearly pulled off the upset.
North Central travels to Westminster on Friday, while Acadiana Prep entertains False River.
