North Central remained undefeated with a 61-38 victory over Eunice in game one of the Northwest Holiday Basketball Tournament Monday.
Tasha Tanner led the Lady Canes (14-0) with 22 points, while Daraneshia Joseph added 14 and Donisha Durriseau contributed 12.
"We were sluggish because of the two days off," said North Central coach Vanessa Taylor. "Hopefully, we'll pick it up Wednesday."
The Lady Cats (4-8) were paced by Jada Thomas, who scored 22 points.
Eunice, playing without two starters, had a hard time staying with the Lady Canes, which concerned coach Sam Johnson.
"We played a lot of people you don't normally see," Johnson said. "We got better as the game went on. We're going to need everyone when district starts, and with two starters out it made a big difference today."
