Lady 'Canes cruise past WCA

LEBEAU - Donisha Dureasseau exploded with 19 points to lead the North Central Lady Hurricanes to a 64-40 win over Westminster Christian Academy Tuesday night.
The Lady Crusaders keep it close in the opening
quarter as Westminster was trailing 14-9 before the Lady Hurricanes called a time out with 2:14 remaining in the period.
After the time out, North Central outscored Westminster 10-4 to take a 24-13 lead at the end of the first quarter.
The second quarter was all North Central as the Lady Hurricane press was too much for the Lady Crusaders to handle.
The Lady Hurricanes out scored Westminster 17 to 8 to take a 41-21 lead into the locker room at the half.
The third quarter was a defensive struggle for both teams as North Central outscored WCA 9-5 and the Lady Hurricanes took a 50-27 lead into the final quarter.
North Central outscored Westminster 14-13 in the fourth quarter to seal the victory.
Westminster was led in scoring by Abby Olivier with 22 points.
North Central assistant coach Nicole Johnson, sitting in for Vanessa Taylor, noted after the game, "Our man to man defense is not where it should be. We are still fouling too much."
"We played as hard as we could for as long as we could," WCA head coach Roy Young said.
With the win, North Central clinched another district title in girls?226-130? basketball as the Lady Hurricanes improve to to 24-2 overall and a perfect 11-0 district record.
The Lady Crusaders fall to 11-11 for the season and are 3-8 in district play.
