| The Lady Hurricanes had an awesome season. They were parish runners-up and finished second place in the Rockin' Canes Tournament. This year the Hurricanes competed in a bigger district, moving to AA. This did not deter the Lady Canes, as they blew through that district with 11-1 record. They went on to defeat St. Martin (New Orleans) 101-30. This was the first time the Lady Hurricanes had ever broken the century mark. Their next victim was Welsh in the regional round of the state playoffs. Welsh was ranked #3 in the state, but as usual, people in south Louisiana do not prepare properly for HURRICANES. The Canes defeated Welsh 56-55. The Lady Hurricanes hosted Ascension Catholic (the defending A state Champs) at home, where they again accomplished another amazing victory, defeating Ascension Catholic 69-53. The Lady Canes went on to the state semi-finals SWEET 16 where they suffered a 74-32 loss. The season was awesome. They will lose two seniors, but will return 3 starters. |
