Baby think It Over

The "Baby Think It Over" program at NCHS, is a school program using realistic simulated parenthood to deter unwed-teen pregnancy. This program teaches students just how hard and expensive it is to raise a child. The Baby is assigned to a parent (a student). It cries unpredictably for care both day and night. Crying can be quieted only by the assigned parent.
Mrs. Hayes (instructor) commented that her students enjoyed caring for their babies. They provided the daily care such as bathing, feeding, and clothing the baby. The students also decorated a nursey with all the necessary baby supplies.
Mashundra Wright said, "My baby is very good, and she only cries when she wants to be fed. Most people say my baby is dead, because she never cries."         While Baby Think It Over provides a reasonably realistic simulation of parenting, there are significant differences between it and a real infant.
