Black History Program

North Central held its annual Black History Program in the school auditorium on Monday, Feb. 26, 1996. Invocation was given by Rev. Dale Fontenot, and the program opened with a stirring rendition of "Lift Every Voice and Sing" by Grambling's Choir under the superb direction of Mrs. Cheryl Clansy. A thought provoking, uplifting, and motivating talk was given to the student body by Mrs. Stella Thomas who acknowledged that she had returned to her roots at our school and felt welcome in the company of people whom she had once worked with. Grambling's Choir performed a variety of musical pieces which were spiritually uplifting, superbly arranged, and flawlessly sung. As special guest of Grambling's choir, Marcus Davis performed several solo selections on the soprano saxaphone. This young performer captivated the NCHS audience with songs which rivaled the professionalism of Kenny G. The program concluded with remarks by Principal Raymond Duplechain who commended his students on their excellent behavior and rewarded them with more recess time. Mrs. Hendrix, program coordinator, made a special presentation to guest speaker, Mrs. Stella Thomas. Thanks to all involved for such an excellent program.
