Top Spellers in the Parish

Congratulations to Shemeka Vaughn, a senior at NCHS, who placed first in the twelfth grade division of the St. Landry Parish Spelling Bee. Also, congratulations to Lois Thomas, a freshman at NCHS, who won third place. Mildred Curette, who came in one day before the competition to replace a student who was unable to attend, placed fourth in the tenth grade division. Great effort Mildred! The competition was held on April 24, 1996 at St. Landry Parish School Board, and the best spellers from each school had a chance to show off their skills. NCHS was right up there with the best of them.
