Amanda Jones, a senior at North Central High School, recently competed in the FHA Star Events held at Northwest High School. She came out in first place. The contest was about yams, and how they grow. Each participant was required to bake some type of cake with yams in it and make a speech about the growth and nutrition of yams.

        "I'm enjoying my last year in high school by taking an active part in the FHA Star Events. Entering this contest has been a great experience because I've learned more about the Agricultural Industry, and I think I learned everything possible about yams," remarked Amanda.
