NCHS Gets New Assistant Principal
by Dajuana Oliney
Mr. Kermit Thomas has been named as the new assistant principal as of Thursday, September 3, 1998. He has different titles to his name. Some people call him Coach Thomas, and some people just call him Mr. Thomas. Whatever you call him, he is still the same person with the same personality but with a different title to his name. He is an excellent example of someone taking charge without allowing the thought of being named something great going to his head.
Mr. Thomas feels that he will be an asset to the school, community, and administration. He says ,"I have been in the area for a long time, so I have taught some of these children's parents. Therefore, I feel that the relationships are stronger." He believes that we have good student body and he would like to keep it that way. He is very confident that the students will do what they are asked and told to do. He feels that the students will not defeat their purpose for being here. He mentioned that he sees very energetic people that are willing to work to achieve what they have come here to achieve.
When he was asked does he think the discipline plan should change, he replied, "The discipline plan for NCHS is suitable for our school." He, as an administrator, feels that he, as well as the principal, will enforce the rules and see that they are carried out. That way the teachers can teach more, and more effective learning can take place in the classroom. This will help to get the maximum ability out of our students.
Mr. Thomas feels that there will be some positive changes which will come from him taking on a new role at NCHS. He does feel that he will have new ideas to implement. He will follow the things that are already established by the administrative staff. Mr. Thomas says,"I feel great to be a part of great things that are going on."
