NCHS Open House a Tremendous Success

Despite fog and mist which created dangerous driving conditions, NCHS Open House was a tremendous success. Parents filled the library beyond capacity, and extra chairs had to be brought in.

As parents entered, they were given a copy of our December PTO newsletter and a survey to fill out. Also, parents' names were typed into a computer to register for a door prize.

Rev. Dale Fontenot, PTO president, addressed the capacity crowd, welcoming and praising them for their concern. He briefly discussed the goals and objectives of our PTO.

Then Mr. Ambres, principal of NCHS, made his remarks of gratitude and pride to our parents. He said that despite all the things we have gotten, parent support is what we need most.

Teachers were then allowed to introduce themselves and tell what subjects they taught. Then they were dismissed to their classrooms while parents remained for the rest of the meeting.

During the meeting the winners of our door prize and the homemade quilt were announced. Mrs. Lillie Jones of Washington won the ten dollar door prize, and Mrs. Elnora Malveaux of Morrow won the quilt.

After the meeting parents visited teachers in their classrooms to pick up report cards and discuss student progress.

Refreshments were served in the cafeteria. Pictures were taken for our yearbook. By 8:00 p.m. the remaining few parents, teachers, and principal decided to call it a night, a successful one indeed.

Thanks for making our Open House and PTO meeting a huge success. Please come out and join us next time. The next PTO Meeting is on February 10 at 6:00 PM in the school library.
