NCHS FFA members attend State FFA Convention

        Five members of the North Central FFA attended the 73rd State FFA Convention in Alexandria, LA on June 4-7, 2002.         

        Brooke Ducote won the Area III Star Agribusiness Award in addition to placing first in Wildlife Management and second in both Floriculture and Nursery Operations. Brooke will represent Louisiana FFA and North Central at the 75th National FFA Convention to be held in Louisville, KY in October. Pictured with Brooke are from left Hals Beard, her FFA Advisor and her parents - Barbara and Leo Ducote, Jr.         

       Also winners were Corey Courville who placed 4th in the Extemporaneous Speaking Contest and Dane Firmin placed 4th in Landscape Management. Danielle and Heidi Beard both served on the Courtesy Corps and received the Livestock Exhibition Award for their chapter. All of these members will be representing the North Central FFA Chapter in the National Chapter Award Competition in Louisville during the National FFA Convention because the chapter was recognized as a Gold Emblem chapter in Louisiana.
       
 

        Eight members were awarded the State FFA Degree, the highest honor one can receive from the state FFA association. These were Joseph Schexsnayder, Dane Firmin, Corey Courville, Brooke Ducote, Derek Luneau, Lance Luneau, Darrell Orgeron and Benny Camp.
       

        During the final session of the convention, the North Central FFA was awarded the Area III FFA Sweepstakes Award for outstanding performance in the Career Development Events among the 65 FFA chapters from the southwest Louisiana area.

        Special thanks goes to our principal - Mr. Raymond Duplechain, our two assistant principals, parents and all of the faculty/staff that make FFA successful at North Central High School.
