North Central Music Program Receives Grant

Raymond Duplechain receives a check of $5,000 from Thaddeus Johnson, music teacher at North Central.

Mr. Thaddeus Johnson recently applied for and received an arts enrichment in education grant from the Decentralization Arts Funding Program of the state of Louisiana. This program is administered by the Acadiana Arts Council of Lafayette. The funds will be allocated for instrumental programs for students from Morrow, Palmetto, and Washingtom Elementary schools along with those from North Central High School. The students will take part in monthly sectional workshops administered by professionals and educators on their particular instrument. They will be given grouped and private attention with emphasis on fundamentals and performance selections. The students will also be taking field trips to performances of professional instrumental groups along with competitions and performances of their own. The North Central Program is in its second year of existence and on the move.
